Frederick ''Rick'' HAUCK, ancien pilote d'essai de l'US Navy, est un astronaute de la NASA sélectionné en 1978 dans le Groupe 8.
Il effectue 3 vols spatiaux. 1 en tant que Pilote de la Navette (STS-7), 2 vols en tant que Commandant de la Navette (STS-51A et STS-26).
Il a volé lors de 3 des missions les plus emblématiques du Programme Shuttle (et qui ont aussi parmi les plus patchs du Programme)...
STS-7 qui voit la première américaine, Sally Ride, aller dans l'espace.
STS-51A qui est la mission de récupération de 2 satellites en orbite avec cette célèbre photo.
STS-26, qui est la mission de retour dans l'espace des navettes spatiales après l'accident de Challenger.
Il quitte la NASA en 1989.

Five years.

Fascinating to be inside a white hot copance.
